gocco christmas card

Another design complete!  It was extremely hard to print Christmas cards when the temperature outside reached 20 degrees! Nevertheless, I Gocco’d lots of these “howly holidays” cards on ivory and khaki cardstock for upcoming shows.. and for the shop.

I started printing a series of gift tags as well, but they’re not quite ready. I ran out of steam… and space for drying prints!

Baby announcements

baby announcements ottawa

I’ve just added four new baby announcement designs to the shop. Each design is digitally printed to keep costs low. (Screenprinting is always an option but will be an additional cost) Cards measure 5.5 x 4.25 inches and include a coordinating envelope. Corners can be rounded or square.

A minimum order of 25 is required. Please send me an email with your text. Current turnaround time is two weeks (I place a paper order once a month).

Here are the other three designs:

Limited editions

handmade books

Over the weekend, I started working on a new product idea.  These handmade books will be made in a limited edition for the upcoming season - once I tweak the dimensions just a little bit more.  I’ve ordered some great bookcloth in some really fun colours, so these books will be unlike anything you’ll find in Ottawa.

I feel like I’ve finally mastered the art of mixing glue for bookbinding.  And the art of not getting glue everywhere.  It’s a lot harder than you think!

I’m working on a couple of options for the inside pages, but again waiting to supplies to arrive.   So, no inside shots now… but soon!

Tea for two… or six

red gocco teacups

Last week I headed to the art store to restock on blank sketchpads.  (I used the last of my Orla Kiely notebooks from a visit to the Tate Modern two years ago.)  Most of my inspiration lately has been coming from food magazines.  With the slight drop in temperature, some neighbourhood trees have already given up and changed their green leaves to red.  They’re telling me to get back in the routine of staying indoors and keeping warm with soups, teas and quilts.

At the end of my sketching, I decided to go ahead and print the teacup card straight from the drawing.  (Usually, I go to Illustrator and clean them up first.)

It’s a nice little card to use as invitations for a baby or bridal shower or just for saying ‘thank you’ to a friend.  Best of all … they’re in the shop now.

New in the shop

hello mummy gocco greeting

Slowly but surely.  I am slowly putting check marks beside all the types of cards I am planning on designing. This one is for the mum-to-be. I think it could even be used for shower invitations.

The idea for this print came to me as I was reading last month’s Blueprint magazine. There was an article on fancy denim and featured a denim jumper. Well, move one anchor point on your Illustrator drawing and you go from hipster dress to hot mama.

I’ve just put it up in the shop. (PS: Check out our new shipping prices!)

Orville takes over

August 23rd, 2007

Uh oh. Look what happens when my cat, Orville, supervises the creative process – he puts himself on the product. Orville loves eating and is quite the gourmand, so it’s fitting that he inspired these yellow and white recipe cards!  Gocco printed in a deep tabby orange. These cards are in the shop today .  (Orville not included!)
